Bedard Comes off Disabled List

The Seattle Mariners activated pitcher Erik Bedard on Tuesday. Bedard had been on the disabled list since June 8th with left shoulder inflammation.

Bedard is expected to start tonight against the Baltimore Orioles. In eleven starts this year, Bedard is 5-2 with a 2.47 ERA including 65 strikeouts in 65.2 innings.

The Mariners also placed first baseman Mike Sweeney was placed on the 15-day disabled list with back spasms, which opened up a spot on the active roster for Bedard.

Sweeney is hitting .250 with three home runs in 120 at bats. Sweeney has been placed on the disabled list retroactively to July 6th.
