It appears New York Yankees outfielder Xavier Nady's season is over after feeling pain in his elbow while throwing during a rehabilitation game in AAA Scranton.
Nady, who has been out since mid-April with a torn ligament in his elbow, was originally recommended to have surgery but elected to try to rehab the elbow after receiving plasma injections.
It would be Nady's second Tommy John reconstructive surgery in his career, having the operation done in his right elbow in 2001.
Last year Nady was traded to the Yankees and hit 12 home runs in 228 at-bats and a .268 average with his new team. This season Nady played just seven games and 28 at-bats before going down with the injury.
Tommy John surgery would probably mean that Nady will not be ready for the start of the 2010 season as well.
